RABALÀ PERCUSSIONS
Rabalà Percussion is an experimental group from Faenza (Italy) led by the designer and musician Enrico Versari, which uses ceramics bells, udu, tombak, darbuka as well as two baritone saxophones, flutes and some ocarinas. They will perform in K-Hof Kammerhof Museen Gmunden.
In the historic pottery workshops of FAENZA (Italy) the skills of the most experienced potters meet the musical tradition of North Africa and Middle-East... Rabalà Percussion gives a clean and sleek twist to the design of the traditional percussion instruments of Mediterranean heritage: they are all realised according to the original craft skills of working clay and natural animal skins.
The result is unique artefacts of high artistic quality. They become collectible ceramics that are a pleasure to play, as they combine the clear sound of ceramics and the warmer and deeper notes produced by the animal skin.
Playing is believing!
Rabalà instruments are entirely made in Italy -from design to manufacturing- according to traditional crafts procedures. Each piece is thus unique in shape, colour and sound: handmade instruments meet perfection!
Each instrument is individually certified in its uniqueness by an "identity card" bearing its details.
