RAVENNA MOSAICS
Ravenna (Italy) is the ancient capital of the Western Roman Empire, well known for the importance of mosaics. Although it is not the cradle of the mosaics' art, Ravenna host an unique collection of masterpieces of the 5th century. Thanks to the presence of mosaics, seven religious monuments are inscript as UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 1997.
The exhibition shows perfect copies of the original mosaics. They are an essential part of the Christian iconography, a mix of reality and symbols, roman and byzantines influenced.
